Interim Management. A career stepping-stone?

Venue:
Southampton Institute, Herbert Collins Building,HC025
Date: Monday 10 May 2004
Time:
7pm (Refreshments 6.30pm)

Speaker: Mike Measures, Tom Coleman and Michael J Clark of Interimconnect.

This will be jointly with the BCS Quality SIG and the BCS PromsG

Description:
Mike Measures FCA a career interim manager and founder of Interimconnect will dispel some myths about interim management, why organisations are increasingly turning to it to manage change and resolve critical business issues. He will also touch on some of the issues, barriers and rewards for those making the career change into interim management.

Tom Coleman has been an ICT interim manager for nearly 10 years, working at board level in both public and private sectors. He will mainly talk about his experience as an interim European VP for a global electronics manufacturer. He was responsible for ICT systems in England, Dublin and the Czech Republic at a time when the organisation was in a period of explosive growth (it purchased factories in Rome and Milan from IBM). After recruiting a permanent replacement, Tom stayed with the company for another six months as a Programme Director initiating a worldwide sourcing programme.

Michael J Clark was CEO of a listed Water Utility that due to critical internal failures in the IT/IS department turned to an interim manager for a strategy to deliver the major new hardware and software solutions fundamental to meeting efficiency and quality improvement targets. He will talk about how the failures arose; why an interim was chosen; how the interim met the challenge and most importantly how the strategy was implemented. Michael talks from the interesting perspective of the “poacher” turned “gamekeeper” as he now operates as an interim CEO himself.

The speakers, all members of Interimconnect, will be pleased to answer questions arising both on the presentations and interim management generally. Interimconnect (www.interimconnect.co.uk) is the largest network of career interim managers in the UK with 1000 + members covering all disciplines and sectors.

This event is open to non-members, is CPD assessed, is free and requires no prior booking. We hope to meet you at some of our future events but even if you cannot come please let us know what type of events you would like to attend.
